You thing about Retirement Planning – Why and When?s

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

When researching and discussing retirement planning and options, I get these questions frequently. Despite the constant news coverage of impending doom, many, if not most Americans are still depending on their social security payments to support them through their retirement. The sad fact is that it simply isn’t possible. It is doubtful that Social Security by itself would be enough to get the average American through their twilight years.

Americans are living longer and longer. And, we are leading more active lives. Retiremetn has a new meaning today! Gone are the days when retirees sat at home reading newspapers and playing cards every other afternoon. Today’s retirees are traveling, taking classes, learning to dance, and trying new things that they were not able to experience while setting aside funds for the future and going about the business of raising their own families. Now they are taking the time to do all these great things, butthese great activities and pastimes require funds in order to enjoy.

This is the number one reason you should begin as early as possible to set aside funds for your retirement but make active plans to invest those funds to maximize the potential of limited funds. You, and only you, can decide on your desired retiremetn lifestyle. Once you have that well in mind, you should take your plans, goals, and concerns to a financial planner and seek their advice on setting specific goals, better defining your plans, and making the most of your investment means. You also will need to establish a realistic investment strategy that will not leave you feeling strapped for cash month after month.

The important role that a good financial planner and good planning play in our financial futures cannot be overlooked. We need to take advantage of every opportunity to maximize our money. A good financial advisor will know of funds and strategies that we have never heard of. It makes sense to go to an expert when it concerns our family’s future.

We see experts when it comes to matters of law, health, and taxes-why on earth shouldn’t we see an expert for our finances? Just be certain that you hire a “Fee paid” financial planner who derives his or her income from the advice they give you rather than any commissions or fees that are related to your investments. You want to make sure that you planner is your friend and not trying to live off of investment recommendations that he/she makes to you. You earned the monay and deserve all of the benefits and earnings from its investment.

Why is it so important to have a plan? This is so that you won’t end up needing a job in order to put food on your table once you’ve reached retirement age. A recent U. S. Census Bureau survey reported that nearly 65 % of Americans reaching age 62 this year will have less than $25,000 in net assets. That will hardley support a decent retirement lifestyle.

The sad truth is that many of our retired citizens are finding themselves strapped for cash financially and barely able to make ends meet. If they are fortunate enough to have homes that are paid for, they often find the property taxes, medical bills, the higher cost of living, etc are putting so much presseure on retirement budgets that manyare having a rough time without some sort of assistance. All of the unprecedented price increases over the last two decades coupled with our improved longevity give us some very real reasons to make plans for your future retirement.

It is best to begin making these plans as early as possible. If you begin the process a little later, however, It is not impossible to recover . The problem is that you will need to make some extra investments along the way or build some supplemental retirement income just to make up for lost time. The sooner you begin making plans for your financial retirement the healthier your retirement options will be. The best way to go about this is to define your retirement goals early on, make written plans, and then take them to a financial advisor and get his or her input. Investing smarter is much wiser than investing harder.

With the advent of the Internet in our society, there are many new opportunities to earn some extra income to accelerate your retirement savings or to supplement your retirement income once you have retired. Do not overlook these opportunities as they not only provided some needed income without having to leave you retirement nest, but they also provide some fun, exciting and rewarding activities for your retirement years.

Most Popular Kid’s Costumes

Deciding what costume to use for your children can be a daunting task. Sometimes it’s even hard to know where to start! Here’s a short list to get you thinking:

Gender-Neutral Costumes:

These are costumes that are great for both boys and girls. These are “types” of costumes that are truly adaptable!

Cowboys/Indians: What little boy doesn’t want to be a cowboy? Indians are just as classic as well, for a girl’s costume she could even be Pocahontas or Princess Tiger Lily. These are easy costumes to put together as well.

Musical Superstars: Pop stars provide perfect costume opportunities for the pre-teen crowd. Think Jonas Brothers or Elvis for boy costumes and Hannah Montana or High School Musical for girl costumes.

Vampires: Thanks to Twilight and other recent books, these fanged people are back from the past and hotter than ever!

Pirates: Pirates have also made a comeback and are sticking around. With swords, eye patches, ratty clothes, and jewelry, dressing up like a pirate is definitely fun!

Superheroes: Superheroes are in full swing with the movie industry recreating many old comic book favorites. Boys costumes can include Spiderman, Superman, and Wolverine. Suggestions for girls costumes are Wonderwoman, Batwoman, and Rogue.

Girls Costumes:

These girl’s costumes that have been around for ages, and for good reasons!

Cinderella: Girls love to dress up as their favorite princesses, and a Cinderella costume is one of the most popular. Check with your little princess to see what princess she’d like to be. There are so many! Cinderella, Ariel, Princess Leia, and Belle are a few suggestions to get you started.

Fairy: The fun Jovani prom dresses and skirts involved in fairy costumes make them a favorite for little girls. All they need are wings!

Witches: The timeless Witch costume is not forgotten. Try taking a modern approach by dressing like a modern witch such as Elphaba from “Wicked” or Hermione Granger from Harry Potter.

Boys Costumes:

These boys costumes are great ideas to get your little monster thinking.

Transformers: The new Transformer movies have recreated the spark of the transformers. Bumblebee and Optimus Prime are two of the most popular of the Transformers.

Star Wars: The Star Wars series is truly a timeless classic. They have been popular costumes for ages, and can be applied to family or group costumes as well.

Deathly Creatures: Perhaps it is the dreary make-up and fearsome aspects that attract boys to these costumes. Whether it’s a ghoul, grim reaper, or dead boy scout, boys seem drawn to the dark creatures. Often, boys think of variations of these costumes on their own, like a dead car-wreck victim or a futuristic zombie.

Physical air conditioning san diego with kettlebells for MMA fighters

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Without doubt MMA fighters are some of the fittest athletes on the planet. As a fighter you need good performance for every physical quality: strength, speed, endurance, skills and flexibility.

If your are not well conditioned as a sport player or a single event athlete you may lose games, your opponents will score goals and points over you; if you are not fit and participate in MMA competition you will get your own dear ass kicked.

I have seen many athletes who overlook physical air conditioning san diego training, thinking that just skill is important. If you want to know the importance of physical prowess just think about women martial artists fighting men. It is extremely difficult for women athletes to triumph over men, mostly because of physical air conditioning san diego level.

What physical qualities do you need to improve as a MMA fighters and what drills you can use?

 Strength

You need to consider more aspects of strength:

 Maximal general strength

Maximal general strength is the basic for every other aspect of strength. To develop maximal strength train with heavy weights (1-5 RM 85 – 100% x 1 RM) and low repetitions (1 – 5 reps).

KB drills for maximal general strength:

 -         Standing KB press

-         Windmill

-         KB pistol squat

-         Bent press

-         Turkish get up (TGU)

-         Gladiator row

 Explosive strength

Power is king in every athletic discipline. The ability to apply maximal strength in shortest time possible makes the difference between great strikers and novices.

To develop power you need to practice explosive drills. You can train with very heavy weights and maximal acceleration for low reps (1-5 RM for 1-5 Reps).

You can also use lightest weights (30 – 70 % x 1 RM), and use maximal acceleration for 6 – 15 Reps. Stop the drill when you begin your explosiveness begins to drop.

KB explosive drills for power: (you can practice these drills using one or two KB)

 -          KB swing

-          KB snatch

-          KB clean

-          KB jerk

-          KB clean & jerk

KB throws outside on the sand or other soft terrain: two hands overhead behind, two hands forward, two hands up, one or two hands with torso twisting, etc.

 Strength endurance

If MMA combat rounds would be just 30 seconds you wouldn’t need strength endurance, but with multiple rounds of 3 to 5 minutes you need.

For developing strength endurance use 60 – 70% x 1 RM loads for sets of 15 – 30 reps. You can tie different drill together for an extended circuit up to 3 – 5 minutes. Maintain a moderate tempo of execution.

 KB drills for strength endurance:

 -          Turkish get up

-          KB standing press

-          KB bent press

-          KB pistol squat

-          Double KB squat

-          Two hands anyhow

-          Gladiator row

-          Farmer’s walk

 Explosive strength endurance

If you watch beginner amateurs fighting you will notice that punching turn into pushing by the end of the rounds. If you want to maintain your whip and snap until the end of the fight, you need specific training.

Use explosive drills performed for time 2, 3, 4, 5 minutes.
