Get yourself to Atlantic Ave/Pacific St. subway station
Follow the signs for LIRR…
and then you will need a Ronkonkoma branch train…you may have to transfer at Jamaica, best to ask the LIRR ticket window person. timetable at http://www.mta.info/lirr/html/ttn/bethpage.htm

It would be best I think if you go to the Hicksville train station, then take a bus, I think it’s the N79, that goes on Old Country Road.

The Bethpage station is primarily used for connections to Grumman, and therefore most trains stop there only in the morning and afternoon, few at other times. You would do better to get off in Hicksville. The N79 bus runs along Old Country Road.
To get to Hicksville, go to Sutphin Blvd in Queens, walk a couple blocks south from the subway station to the LIRR. At least that is the route I’ve used when not driving.
