Singaporean Business Travellers Most Active in Southeast Asia

A recent survey done here by MasterCard found that 43 per cent of Singaporeans made at least one business trip in the last 12 months, while 12 per cent made more than three trips. This is a clear indication of the city-states strategic location, serving as a gateway for international organisations to reach the lucrative Asian markets, says leading local company registration specialist Rikvin Singapore.
A report in local newspaper TODAY mentioned that The MasterCard Survey on Consumer Purchasing Priorities was conducted from March last year to April this year, involving 17,620 respondents from 14 markets across the Asia-Pacific region.
Singapores English-speaking population has traditionally been sought after by Western companies in order to connect with the bigger Asian markets, said a Rikvin representative. These Singaporeans can be inferred to be the ones that are travelling extensively to the top three destinations of Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan for business purposes.
Local employees serve to act as a bridge in understanding underlying Asian sensibilities and concepts when doing business with Asian counterparts, which are often markedly different from Western customs.
